Favorite Unit

I say it about three times a year, This is my FAVORITE Unit to teach Smile (The other two times are Apples and Life Cycles) If you want to see what I did last year you can check out my post here.

So anyway, last year, I had to do some double duty, and was still using Valentine’s Day stuff, because I didn’t have any President’s Day Centers. So I fixed that, and put together this unit.
Slide1

The centers for this week are pretty fun.
The first set, is Presidential Pet’s Ten Frames. The students draw a card, figure out what the number is, and write it in the box. The fun part of this center, is it features Bo and Sunny, the Obama’s dogs.

The next one is Cherry Tree “ch” words. The students have to decide if the cherry word has a beginning or ending “ch” sound.

Still working on Subtraction fluency? This center has the kiddos writing subtraction problems and having fun at the same time!

This center can either work on the 3rd Dolch list, or whatever list you want your kiddos to work on, as there are blank cards. I have this as a write the room activity. The students walk around the room, and read and write the sight words.

Then we also have some fun games to play this week.
You know my kids go Cucku for Coco Puffs for these game! So we have one that works on sight words, one for teen numbers and the thirds for ccvc and cvcc words.
